A Shopping List for Paid Subscribers

If you call the bottom enough times, eventually you’ll be right - then you can go round telling the world you called the bottom, while ignoring the other 73 times you called it and were wrong. That’s not my game, even though it can get you lots of subscribers, and I don’t want to get into it here.

In practice, bottom fishing can prove to be very expensive.

Eventually, however there will be a bottom and - having been here before I speak from experience - we should get quite a rebound afterwards, be it in resource stocks, tech or anything else, and a lot of money will be made. I rather think, price-wise if not time-wise, we are closer to the bottom of this bear market than the beginning. I’m slightly encouraged by the fact that most resource stocks seem to trading with more of a sideways than a downward bent. There are signs of successfully re-tested lows, followed by higher lows, especially in platinum and silver. But the bottom line is that I do not know.

Bear markets are a time for conserving capital (which is why you’re seeing so few new recommendations from me). However, they are also times of preparation, thought and research. A lot of great new businesses get formed in bear markets.

With all this in mind, I thought I should do something for paid subscribers today.

I am a big believer in lists. People often ask me how it is that I do so many things, and the answer is lists. I write a list each day and each week of things I need to get done, and then, with each task completed, assiduously tick them off. Each box I tick gives me a little bit of satisfaction (probably some kind of dopamine thrill).

Whenever I feel overwhelmed, which is often, I write a list. It restores a feeling of control. It organises the mind. You know what needs to be done, and what it will take to get those things done.

With all this in mind, I thought I should start on a list for subscribers - a list of the assets I want to make sure I own, when the rebound comes. This is a pretty comprehensive list of what I consider the best in class - the best gold miners, the best silver miners, the best platinum plays, the best copper plays, the best energy plays and so on.

Here goes.
