I think the baton was already passing by 1918. The allies in WW1 borrowed so much money from the USA that not only did it poison inter war relations over how it would be repaid, but it is also sometimes said that the key reason the USA got involved in WW1 in 1917 was that it looked like the allies were about to lose and this would mean defaulting on debts to US banks. US military support was thus to ensure victory in order to get their debts repaid! I believe plenty of gold was also shipped over to the US to pay for goods. JP Morgan took a tasty slice for facilitating the purchase of those goods.

Indeed. It was a lengthy handover.

Another fascinating example of Britain/ Churchill passing the baton of 'Global Power' onto America.

I've always believed we should never of got involved in both World Wars. Good book is 'Churchill H1tler and the Unnecessary War' by Patrick Buchanan.

Thanks for everything you do. Good luck with your book.

Absolutely. Not only giving our power away but doing so with great efficiency.

Yep. The gold was shipped to “Canada” and thence to Fort Knox, as DF has said before. There was also more than one collection of gold from South Africa - then part of the Empire - by US warships in 1940.

One ring to rule them all,

   one ring to find them,

One ring to bring them all

and in the darkness bind them.

That bit of Tolkien inscription is the powerband/ied about.

The victors write the “histories” & the victims memorize those stories.

Remember "Learn to code"?

Kinda like telling Ali “Learn to box” yeah?

Or telling Good Will “Learn to code-break”:
