Just a couple of admin-y things.
I am speaking at the New Orleans Investment Conference next month, October 12-15, at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.
I’ve never done it before, but I gather it is quite an event, and they’ve got a great list of speakers this year as you can see from the pic above - Rick Rule, James Grant, George Gammon, Jim Rickards, Doug Casey and many more besides. I am really excited to be going.
Please come along if you are somewhere in that neck of the woods. More info here.
I hope to see you there.
In other news, silver - a metal about which I am extremely ambivalent - had a bonanza day yesterday up nearly 5%. I think this is because news came out Friday evening that the commercials - the would be the pro traders on the Comex, widely seen as the smart money - are net long for only the third time in 40 years. You would expect a multi-week rally off the back of that. I’ll be covering silver later in the week - and I’ll let paid subscribers know what my preferred silver companies are.
Finally, I don’t know if you follow Swen Lorenz’s excellent investment blog, Undervalued Shares. If not, I thoroughly recommend it. Swen is a buddy - we are going to Galapagos together later this year, a trip for which I cannot wait - so I’m biased. Plus, he showed great insight in writing a very nice piece bigging me up last month, so I really am biased. But there are lots of free options, and the paid option is cheap as chips, so I recommend subscribing.
I particularly recommend this recent piece he did on investing in Venezuela. Yes, you read that right. Venezuela. I recommend reading it. There are lots of great, contrarian ideas within.
A presto amici miei
Dominic
