I appeared on the Watchman Privacy podcast the other day and invited host Gabriel Custodiet (I think we can assume that's not his real name) him to write this guest post about privacy, a subject that, as you probably know, is close to my heart - in theory, if not in practice. Enjoy it. Plenty to ponder.
The cameras and scrutiny are always pointing the wrong way. Government should be for the people by the people. They should serve us and we should be pointing the cameras at the government. We should be scrutinising every penny they extort from us, transparency wherever possible, using some kind of distributed ledger perhaps...
I definitely agree that we've lost privacy. But, would it be more accurate to say we've lost the illusion of privacy? And, if so, what would it take to restore that illusion? If one might desire...
