I liked your price comparisons from 1970.

Ithink to do the same from 1937 when most things were at rock bottom is more interesting especially GOLD.........

UK FARMLAND 1937 £10 ACRE 2022 £10000 + 1000 TIMES

US CRUDE " 10 CENTS BRL " $ 90 + 900

UK HOUSE " £ 900 " £ 750,000 + 830

UK WAGE " £ 2 WEEK " £ 440 + 220

UK CAR " £ 100 " £ 12500 + 125

US GOLD " $ 35 " £ 1800 + 51

Not much farmland is worth as much as £10,000 per acre now. I am sure the average across the country is much less (I own some).

UK Houses are plumbed, centrally heated and phone connections and insulation and so on - so one ought to adjust accordingly, even so they have outperformed hugely.

Similarly Cars are more sophisticated and efficient and safer so prices are not directly comparable.
