You might’ve heard of him there’s an old interview the guy that worked in the nuclear industry in the 50s and 60s and he swim in the cooling pools of nuclear Generation units and he would hold Platonian in his hand anyway in the 60s they came up with an idea that there should be a Small nuclear generators every so many miles in the cities they would last over 100 years. He also said 1947 people that he worked with went up to Alaska and gave the Soviet Union all the nuclear secrets they had.

He also stated in this interview that the nuclear waste that they use for weapons or whatever could be used for these electrical Generation units and that it is ours. It is the taxpayers nuclear waste. They put in the salt domes in Louisiana and government insiders use that and they sell it on the black market for their own profit and it’s worth billions of dollars..

Any view on thorium as a nuclear fuel? I looked at this sector years ago and thorium reactors seemed obvious and yet there seems to be have been no take-up. Perhaps there is a listed company worth following that promotes thorium reactors. I have just taken this quote from Wikidpedia on Thorium-based nuclear power: "Hans Blix, former director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, has said "Thorium fuel gives rise to waste that is smaller in volume, less toxic and much less long lived than the wastes that result from uranium fuel"."

AIUI there are still some engineering challenges to overcome before commercial Thorium reactors are viable but it’s an interesting long-term bet

I first locked down with artificiality intelligence in the grade school rotation. I didn’t like it.

If I recall correctly Fukushima got popped by an HAARP- induced earthquake.

FYI, I visited Fukushima Daiichi a few weeks ago on my trip to Japan. I’ll be writing up a piece about it soon and the downstream effects of radiophobia and the anti-nuclear energy movement.

The technology required to repair the leaks will require 40 years to develop.

Daiichi suffered from a significant design flaw in which they placed the backup generators almost at sea level and despite locals in the area telling TEPCO the region once experienced massive tsunamis, the utility (based in Tokyo) insisted they knew best practice for designing such an anti-tsunami barrier in the area.

The cleanup and decommissioning process will indeed take a long time. Part of that is due to the ultra-strict regulations surrounding radiation, largely based on the flawed linear-no-threshold model for human exposure to radiation.
