I like to own the real thing and hold in cold storage first. Then play with ETF's and Mircostrategy.

A bit like holding Gold and then owning some major miners.

Wise is a good for international transfers as stated. I use with no problems. The UK banks are getting hard work with larger transactions now I had a two day battle to get a payment to Singapore with a big British bank. Wise is better for these things . Or Crypto!

I first gave Bitcoin some thought when it hit 4k. It seemed difficult to buy, was akin to buying something off Gumtree.

I hold a small amount (and a whole Ether coin) in a Coinbase account and quite honestly, I’m unsure what I’m doing.

Microstrategy seems a tidier option. Think I’ll need to give this thought moving forward.

It is simpler. But it's not the same and it's very volatile

I arrive din UK in 2017 and one month later a guy gave me your Bitcoin book as a gift. I must have read it in a couple of days, I just could not put it down. I was finally understanding what was this bitcoin thing. What a great book, really well written and easy to digest. I ended up buying Life after the State the next week but thats another story.

At the end of the book you mention something like "at the time of writing this book bitcoin sits at $1200 (or was it 700?)". I was going to buy some after reading the book but it was already at something like 5k. And just like so many people I just let it go thinking it was maybe too high...

Finally bought a permanent position through EToro in 2022 and have been hodling since and buying more every quarter. I am thinking about buying the "real" stuff now instead of using an ETF.

What I want to say is, thank you for indirectly introducing me to bitcoin, back in 2017. And time again your theory about the cycles of bitcoin are proved correct.

I’m surprised you didn’t mention Wise - I’ve used them for some time and they’re excellent. Transaction fees are reasonable and they charge no spread on exchange conversions, and they’re very quick - I can transfer pounds from my UK account to euros in my French bank virtually instantaneously.

Having just sold my Microstrategy and made a decent profit, and then watch the price to continue going up, I understand your feelings. I shall however take your advice and go back in. Your uranium pick (Uranium Royalty Corp) seems to be drifting gently south, so not very tempting.

Hi Dave, Yelllowcake was my uranium play and I mentioned that I sold half a few weeks ago. Microstrategy has gone nuts - maybe better to wait till it calms back down a bit. But it is the only option a lot of UK investors have, so hard ...

I buy Bitcoin through e-toro through a kind of ETF they have in there. They also have other cryptos in there. Have been buying bitcoin in there since 2022, and I live and pay taxes in UK.

Having a horrendous morning with Santander re transfering money to Monzo account in order to facilitate buying bitcoin. I decided yesterday to finally open my Monzo account and i then, impatiently, tried to transfer money which Santander declined.

Today i find i am locked out of my online banking and i had to endure ridiculous questions from their fraud officer. Asking for D Frisby's name, was he registered etc.

I lost my temper and have now moved to complaints with a view to closing my santander account completely.

Any comments? Help? Thoughts? I really dont want hassle of shutting account but i really felt fraud people were way over top.

Hi Dominic

Thank you so much for providing so much clarity on a complicated technology. May I bother you with a question? Does the 'Bitcoin Average Transaction Fee' apply to all Bitcoin transactions, or is it something specific to mining? I've tried googling it, but still unsure.

Kind regards.

I think it applies to transactions. IE the cost of A sending money to B. not mining costs
