Enjoy your writing but have to disagree on this one from more than 50 years experience. I'm in the US so we have had property tax/land tax all my life. It is one of the cruelest taxes next to central bank inflation. Once you have a land tax you can never own your property. You simply rent from the Crown/government. When/if you can't afford the tax because you retired they sell your land to pay the tax and you are homeless. I'm also 80 yrs old. IMHO the fairest tax, if you must tax at all, is the sales tax/comsumption tax, where you pay on what you spend with an exclusion for food and medical expenses. If you can afford to spend you pay and if you are poor you do not. It is cruel to tax a poor person out of their home simple because they become unable to pay.

Here you go Dom, if you can't beat them join them, 31 acres for £170k or 5 bitcoins. A mile from my house, we could be buddies!

(Albeit we've never met)
