Is there really ‘no safe level’ of drinking?
Last Orders with the IEA's Chris Snowdon and Spiked's Tom Slater
Happy Easter!
For your Sunday thought piece this week, we have a video or podcast, if you prefer: my appearance on Spiked’s Last Orders this week.
We discuss:
the ongoing mission to get booze as vilified as tobacco
the Supreme Court gender ruling
the school kids who are taking on the fast food industry (and breaching advertising standards)
the rise of clean-living comedians
and the Tory gambling scandal
Enjoy.
Youtube vid is below. Here it is is on Apple podcasts, and here it is on Spotify.
Once again, Happy Easter! (Don’t eat too much cheap chocolate - it’s got loads of seed oil in it).
All the best
Dominic
If you missed my recent pieces, here they are. (I’ve been writing a lot about gold lately - quelle surprise).
Dominic has this right. The choice is personal and everyone should be able to make it. If you are an alchie, deal with it and if you want to moderate your drinking or vary it, fine.
Another thought: Seeing the Scandinavian social system from the inside, it is now a race about who gets the tax revenue - If you call on the “social safety net” 2025 then you’re stealing salaries from public employment - a blob that can’t be decreased in size but is constant growing …and you must be shamed. Thus as everyone drinks “The System” can now shame anyone - as they did with the smokers.
